Swimming Pools | Now everyone can own a swimming pool
Swimming pools were once considered luxury items that were far beyond the reach of most working families, but now the times have changed. Today there are plenty of low to mid-ranged pricing options for just about anyone with a backyard to get their own pool without breaking the bank. If money was your only reason for not purchasing a swimming pool, you might want to take another look at the affordable pool choices on the market. Inground or Above ground Pool?
The first choice that you need to make is regarding what type of pool you want:
above ground or inground?
Inground swimming pools have been around the longest and they tend to be larger and are far more expensive to buy. You need to hire a pool contractor and have a yard big enough to fit the pool with plenty of room left over to accommodate the heavy equipment that will be used to excavate and pour the cement. These types of pools are permanent additions, need to be enclosed with a fence and potentially certified by your local level of government. While they are expensive to install, they can also increase the value of your home if they’re well maintained.
The more cost-effective route is the above ground pool. While these pools have been around for decades, they’ve now available in non-permanent versions that can be packed up at the end of the season. There are many advantages for these portable above ground pools; they take up less space in your yard, they’re more affordable and they allow renters to own pools because they’re easy to pack up and take with you.
The main drawback with above ground pools is that they’re designed more for cooling off and playing in rather than for serious swimming. Above ground pools don’t have sufficient depth for diving, so any true swimming enthusiasts may be disappointed with the limited benefits of an above ground pool.
Swimming Pool Accessories
Besides paying for the pool itself, there are other items that you need to get the most out of your swimming pool. These accessories can run the gamut from pool toys or flotation devices to swimming pool chemicals and pool pumps. Getting the right pool accessories will depend on whether you have an inground pool or an above ground pool, for example, you won’t need a diving board for an above ground pool. Not only are some swimming pool supplies needed for personal safety, in the case of pool chemicals, pumps and filters, they’re required for maintaining the pool water quality. Learning how to test and treat your water with chlorine or alternatives is mandatory for any pool owner - and a similar amount of knowledge may be required to make sure you get the best accessories for whatever type of pool that you own.
Swimming Pool Designs
The basic pool design starts with inground or above ground. There are companies that allow you to design your own inground pool and will custom build it to your requirements, but this is obviously an expensive undertaking. Above ground pools can only be set up one way, but you can choose which ever design works best for your needs, the size of your back yard and your budget. You can go with a portable above ground pool or a permanent one, the choice is yours.
